DESIGNER
PROFILES
We may or may not know their names. We are more familiar with the objects they created, because we sometimes own a few of them in our homes. In Designer Profiles, we will tell the journey and the story of the objects concocted by creators from here and there.
Faces behind the objects. Gradually, we will paint the portraits of the creators mentioned in the sections of Le Dessous des Objets. And there are many of them. So, expect plenty of discoveries… Other designers, from yesterday and today, coming from all countries and backgrounds, will of course be part of the program.
We might start with the stars of French design. Starting with Philippe Starck, and the one who started with him: Matali Crasset. A French figure of today’s design trained at Les Ateliers-ENSCI, she likes to define herself as a “designeureuse” (design + happy). At the crossroads of an artistic, anthropological, and social practice, she thinks of the home as a place nourished by history and philosophy. She is currently presenting an explicit exhibition until January 15, 2026, at the Saint-Pierre church in Firminy-Vert: Nos pieds d’argile (Our feet of clay).
Then we will mention in no particular order Patrick Jouin, Rudi Bauer, Alessandro Mendini, Eva Kubinyi, Elise Foin, Patricia Urquiola, Mathilde Brétillot, Alvar Aalto, Mathieu Lehanneur, Sebastian Bergne, Garance Vallée, Victor Prouvé, Pierre Paulin, Vico Magistretti, Gaetano Pesce, Ferruccio Laviani, and so many others… Impossible to name them all here. But rest assured, what we promise you is to make you spend superb afternoons and admirable evenings in their company!
