Design is a temporal adventure. From the industrial revolution of the 1850s to the digital revolution of today, design has seen many eras, leaders, and personalities who have shaped History.
Le Dessous des Objets takes you on the road of these major movements: the rigor of the German Bauhaus led by Walter Gropius, the madness of Art Deco, the optimism of Art Nouveau or the Modern Movement. It is the promise of a beautiful journey across the planet, on the path of progress and inventions, from Italy to Scandinavia.
We will also stop in pivotal periods, such as the epic of plastic or the mythical 80s. A decade of crazy creativity and carelessness where design, carried by figures like Philippe Starck or Andrée Putman, became a superstar, a hymn to freedom and individualism.
