DESIGN IN
CITIES
Design is everywhere. It is present in our homes, with furniture and household appliances. But it also structures our public space. Street furniture, signage, transport: discover how design shapes the face of our cities and our daily urban life.
The city is a huge playground for designers. Beyond aesthetics, it’s about thinking of collective use, sustainability, and living together. Each city has its own visual identity, its own language. This involves a multitude of elements that we pass by, sometimes without seeing them: the lighting that makes our nights safer, the bins that keep our streets clean, the signs that guide us.
It is also the architecture of bus shelters, the comfort of public benches, the ergonomics of subways, trains, and trams. Down to the typography of street signs or park signage, urban design is a complex and fascinating discipline that mixes architecture, engineering, and graphic design.
