MÉLINA GAZSI’S
MANIFESTO
Look, just in our homes, we live surrounded by over 2000 objects and how many more in our environment. So we spend our whole lives with them, but most often we know nothing about how they were created, manufactured, modified over time and by whom.
Because objects, either we say absolutely nothing about them, or we talk about them in an almost trivial way, or on the contrary we talk about them as something expensive, chic and reserved for collectors and insiders… And as for design, it is alas the poor relation of culture, which is too often mentioned only in the decoration pages of magazines…
OUR AMBITION
The “Dessous des Objets” manifesto, for the promotion and democratization of design!
- To promote a culture of objects and design to a wide audience.
- To demystify design by focusing on the use of objects.
- Not to confine design to the home: to show that it is everywhere.
Yet, since the dawn of time, even before the word design entered the vocabulary, man has sought to improve his habitat and his daily life in terms of comfort and utility of course, but also and depending on the era in terms of beauty, amenity and emotion…
They tell of styles, politics and economics, education and trades, creation and industry, research, innovations, women and men, designers, industrialists, artists and artisans…
Design has been telling the story of life for centuries and centuries.
Design also tells our lives…
SO, WHY SHOULD DESIGN BE ELITIST?
When every minute of our lives, we spend it with a multitude of objects, equipment, accessories and visuals, whether it’s a chair, a car, a pen, a glass, a subway. Whether it’s a lamppost or a telephone, packaging, a computer or an illustration. And beyond the objects themselves, design is also the methods in corporate strategies, signage on roads, in cities, in hospitals, etc.
In short, not a single day without design! Because design is used every day, from the moment we wake up, right from the morning, with the toothbrush, the razor, the coffee, the radio, the phone, the schoolbag, the suitcase…
Yes, design is everywhere! It is therefore time to show design as it is:
an art of life and everyday life.
